TLC Military Outreach Committee
Our congregation is nestled in the midst of a community where over 5,000 military families live. We seek to foster and build relationships with military families through various outreach opportunities, and to help military families feel they are at home at TLC.
Children's Clothing Fair
Twice a year, we work with the Murphy Canyon Chapel to host a children's clothing fair to distribute clothing to military families in need. With the help of the congregation and Tierrasanta community, we are able to collect gently used and like-new clothing for our areas military children.
This spring our clothing fair will be held on May 24th at the Murphy Canyon Chapel.
Military Food Distribution
In May and November, we host a food distribution for area military families. With the sponsorship of congregation and community members, we distribute 3 days of food in May, and in November a Thanksgiving Day meal, along with additional goodies. The food drive is scheduled for May 14th from 8:30am-11:30am.
Family Holiday Event
Each December, TLC military families invite other military families to join us as we create gifts and materials to build family traditions during the Advent and Christmas season. This year we will have craft boxes distributed on December 4th. It is a joy to watch as relationships deepen and eyes of wonder explore the possibilities of the season.
Wreaths Across America
Wreaths' Across America's mission is to Remember, Honor and Teach by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at more than 2,500 locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea and abroad. On December 18th we from TLC will gather to place wreaths at Miramar National Cemetery.
